Barack Obama’s Custom-Designed Nikes to Sell For 25K In Sotheby’s Auction

In 2009 Nike gifted former President Barack Obama with a pair of Hyperdunk sneakers, custom designed exclusively for him.

Obama’s love of basketball wasn’t a kept secret, during his presidency he turned the White House tennis court into a makeshift basketball court, the same year, Nike gifted Obama the exclusive hyperdunks. The former president played high school basketball in Hawaii, where his team went on to win the 1979 state championship. Ball is life, so as President, Obama continued to play pick-up games during his term.

The Nikes are deadstock with only two pairs in existence, a sample pair and the pair that 44 personally owns.

On Friday at 4:44p.m. Sotheby’s, a luxury auction, will sell the sample pair starting at $25,000! The shoes include a mesh tongue with the presidential seal on it, while the toe area has 44 stitched in blue and outlined in red.
