Former Mets General Manager Joins Jay-Z at Roc Nation Sports, Brodie Van Wagenen

After working two years as the GM of the New York Mets, Brodie Van Wagenen, has joined Roc Nation Sports as the Chief of Operations, presumably putting him back in the agent game!

Van Wagenen is no stranger to Roc Nation Sports, in 2013 as a co-head in the baseball division, Wagenen helped to negotiate nine-figure contracts for Robinson Cano and Yoenis Cespedes. In the end Cano was signed to the Mariners for 10 years at $240 million, and Cespedes got a four year contract with the New York Mets at $110 million.

Though Van Wagenen struggled to build a winning team as the GM of the Mets, Jay-Z stated, “Brodie’s knowledge of the business is indisputable and unparalleled, since we first worked with Brodie, we realized the shared commitment to athletes both on and off the field. He’s always been extended family and now it’s official.”

According to ESPN , Van Wagenen client list includes; Tim Tebow, Cano, Cespedes, and Jacob deGrom. While at Roc Nation Brodie will not be designated to a particular sport , he will work with all athletes signed to RNS. Some of those athletes include, NBA stars Kyrie Irving and Lamelo Ball, NFL stars Saquon Barkley, Juju Smith-Schuster, and of course MLB stars, Robinson Cano and Yoenis Cespedes to name a few.

“We believed in the vision Jay and Juan had back in 2013, we’ve stayed in constant contact with them. It was a natural homecoming.” says Van Wagenen.

Juan Perez, who runs RNS, states , “I am extremely excited to welcome Brodie to the Roc family, he was one of the first people I worked with in this business and his 20-plus years of expertise speaks for itself. I am looking forward to working side-by-side with him to continue growing Roc Nation Sports.”
