On Sunday, Jan. 24, R&B singer, Trey Songz was arrested at Arrowhead Stadium while attending the Chiefs AFC Championship game.
According to TMZ, a police source reveals that an on-going situation escalated between Trey and fans after they had been hassling him for not wearing a mask. Witnesses say they were asked to stop, but by then police officers had gotten involved, reportedly; after failure to comply, things immediately became physical between the singer and law enforcement. Allegedly, they were also fed up with Songz for violating safety protocol.
Since the incident, Songz has been released from his 24 hour hold, but may face charges of trespassing, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. The trespassing charges come, because allegedly Songz was asked to leave before the tussle that resulted in him putting an officer in a headlock.
The singer has had a few run-ins with police over the years. In 2018 he was arrested for domestic violence against a woman at an LA party, in which charges were later dropped. Songz was also arrested in 2016 for destroying stage equipment at a Detroit concert, sources say the singer became very upset after being told to wrap up his set.
According to police the incident at Sunday night’s game is still being investigated.
