Former basketball player and sports analyst, Shaq O’neal , had a lot of viewers cringing at the comments he made to Utah Jazz guard, Donovan Mitchell during an interview.
Right away Shaq begins the interview by stating,
“By the way, this is Shaq. I said tonight that you are one of my favorite players, but you don’t have what it takes to get to that next level. I said it on purpose, I want you to hear it. What do you have to say about that?”
Leaving Mitchell to respond with a simple “aight”
The Utah Jazz are on a seven game winning streak and had just defeated the Pelicans, with Mitchell scoring 36 points, a career high moment, that had fans and viewers raising their brow at Shaq. The post -game interview even had Kevin Durant and LeBron James defending Mitchell.
Durant said in a social media comment “Them old heads need to go enjoy retirement. These boys have coaches they work with everyday lol.”
James’ comment followed, “There’s a difference between constructive criticism and soft hating though. I’ve seen it both ways come my way, mostly the hate. You can hear it in their delivery.”
