According to the Michigan Lottery website, the Mega Millions winning ticket was purchased at a Kroger store located just outside of Detroit, in Novi, Michigan. Friday’s winning numbers are: 4, 26, 42, 50, 60 and 24 for the Mega Ball.
The identity of the winner has yet to be revealed. Unlike Maryland’s Powerball winner, who gets to remain anonymous after their $731.1 million take on Jan.21st, Michigan’s state lottery rules require that the winner reveal their identity in order to claim their prize.
The winner will have two ways in which they can collect their prize. Option one, the winner could receive a one time cash payment of the $739 million after tax withholdings. Or, the winner could receive an escalating annuity which offers an initial lump sum, then every year after, for 29 years, says Michigan lottery.
This is reported to be the 18th Mega Millions jackpot that has been won in the state of Michigan. The billion dollar win, is now, the largest prize win a player in the state of Michigan has won. Donald Lawson’s 2012 , Powerball jackpot previously held the record at $337 million, according to the Michigan lottery.
