In a Christmas Day post to the late singer’s verified Instagram account, Aaliyah Haughton’s estate announced and confirmed that they have now gained full control of “Baby Girl’s” YouTube Channel and plans to formally launch it this year. Reports say, since Aaliyah’s untimely passing the previous owner of the channel has only shared popular music videos of the young star, however the estate ensures that is soon to change.
In addition to acquiring the YouTube channel it has been revealed that Aaliyah’s music could soon hit streaming platforms, although when this was reported on the singers 19th death anniversary , there were still discussions with record labels in play.
A statement read: “To our loyal fans, we are excited to announce that communication has commenced between the estate and various record labels about the status of Aaliyah’s music catalogue, as well as its availability on streaming platforms in the near future. Thank you for your continued love and support. More updates to come!”
RVTV reports, that Aaliyah’s uncle, Barry Hankerson, is the one allegedly responsible for blocking the distribution of her music on streaming services. Hankerson was the co-founder of the now inoperative label, Blackground Records.
With the estate hard at work there may be hope for the fans to get their musical wish fulfilled.
