In a Southfield shooting that has left 48- year -old Frederic Hudson dead, investigators are now believing the husband and father of two had been targeted.
The wife of the victim, Ebony Hudson, tells investigators her husband had just returned home from visiting a friend before he was shot. WDIV reports, at the time of the shooting the victim’s wife and two children were inside of the home. Ebony tells police when she heard the 8p.m. shots, she ran outside where she found her husband lying in the driveway. Frederic Hudson was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died from injuries sustained to the thigh and chest, reports say.
Police were still searching for the victim’s 2013 Toyota Tundra, but in a Tuesday announcement by Southfield Police Chief, Elvin Barren, he informs the public that there was a 25-year-old male in custody as a person of interest with an extensive criminal background.
“I can’t get it out of my mind. I haven’t been to sleep in 24 hours. It was devastating.” says Ebony when she found her husband in the driveway. “This is the insurmountable loss. It can’t even be described. I’m just in shock. I’m still not processing.” Frederick Hudson leaves behind a wife, a 19-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son.
The family does have a GoFundMe account set up to take donations to help with funeral expenses and their children’s college education. Hudson is described as “a great friend, father, and husband”
